Selective hearing..............

can someone please explain to me why I need to repeatedly call my daughters name without her even giving me a second glance until I finally lose my shit and need to shout at the top of my lungs GG will you please not do _________insert whatever she is not supposed to be doing. Mumbling a few choice words to myself  right after that because as much as I love my little one she can drive me friggin insane some days. Like today we are having some AMAzing weather I mean we are talking some summer time shit here - sundresses, pretty metallic sandals and bad ass pedicures. I did not go to the gym this am because we have very few awesome days like this {living in NoCal and so close to the GG Bridge and the bay we get some major fog in the summer time}.  So why not take some of the fun outside which I did. Got GG and dogs ready and headed out the door. Now for the last few weeks little miss GG has been taking off. Like one minute she is there the next she is frggin up the street around the corner and gone. She is freaking me out and I am going to have a heart attack one of these days.
Hot day - Naked Barbie Pool Party on the deck
So anyway we are walking away and GG decides to get off her little kettle bike and bolts.  Now it's friggin hot and as I am trying to keep an eye on GG but I am also trying to keep an eye to make sure the dogs don't tear up someone else landscaping - dog number 1 has some real issues with grass. I call her name 25 times no acknowledgment, no turning around, nothing, zip friggin a big fat ZERO. I see that she is headed for the road I bolt in order to get to her but I am still not close enough to grab because anytime you wanna grab the little f*ckers they have a tendency to slip right through your fingers. Car coming and I had no choice but to grab her by the hair {not in a vicious punish way} but in a their is no other way for me to grab you way to keep you away from danger way...Yeah the pulling her back by the hair did not fly really well with her and I also felt bad but it was the only way I could grab her quickly.  Trying to keep an eye on a very active toddler and 2 large hyped up dogs is not easy. I felt so bad so bad but what is a mommy to do sometimes? We are only human....right?

Oh, I'm sorry...what did you say?

oh. Not a fun mommy moment. I'm sure when she gets old enough to understand she'll tell you she prefers having her hair yanked to getting hit by a car!

You are absolutely right in what you did, you saved your daughter from danger, the hair thing she will get over!
Why is it toddlers love to escape like that when they know very well what side their bread is buttered on?
Enjoy your beautiful sunshine and enjoy the outdoors. Maybe the more you go outside with GG, the less she will run off on you? Just a thought.
Anyhow, thank you for your kind words on my blog, I always appreciate you visiting xo

Oh, the button pushing age...so sorry! It comes again at other ages, but isn't quite as physically exhausting as it shifts to a mental game!

I love the little notes under leave your comment! :) Thanks for your sweet note on 75% Hippie. Really made my day!

You did what you had to. I remember that was the first (and only one of three) times that I actually spanked my daughter was when she went to run into the road. I was able to catch her (barely) and swatted her butt. Glad she's okay and man, that is always scary!

Looking forward to NoCal in July (not the heat, but the friends lol). Was supposed to leave tomorrow but stuff came up :( Can't wait to get back down there for a few weeks. Ahh, vacation!

Oh I totally know how you feel. My kids are always doing that crap to me and its almost like they know I cannot keep up because I am pregnant {about to pop anyday now}. Even at home they do the same crap, my neighbors probably think I am the worst mom ever because I am constantly yelling at them because they don't freaking listen. They know how to push our buttoms thats for sure:))

Feeling the love......
