We need a damn...

date night.....my hubby shouts to me over the sound of the bath water as he is trying to grab our very slippery daughter a place her  into her hoody towel. I know...I know...as I am picking up LDG's trail of clothing for the 50th time that day. She just loves to play with clothes she must take after her mama!  Hubby and I have been talking about this date night for the last 19 months - since we were blessed with the arrival of our little speed demon. It is hard to believe that it has been that long but I have not left my daughters side since she has been born. The only time I have left her with anyone has been with my SIL and bro and that was for a total of 4 hours for my hubby's Xmas party last year....Whoooweeee mama had a good time that night. No wine for a bit and 3 glasses and a shot kicked my ass. But during those 4 hours -  my tipsy ass could only miss my daughter....is this normal? I have friends of ours with kids who do not give a second thought to going on vaca without their little ones and I could not leave her for a mere 4 hours? What the hell am I going to do when her first day of preschool arrives?

I know the time has come to find and hire a babysitter. GAWD I am just not looking forward this.
Why.... well let's see...Hummmm I am super paranoid, very cautious, do not trust easily and know how to shoot a gun. Can you imagine the weirdos out there? One of my friends is like hire a neighborhood 15 year old  NOT..... going to happen  -  I can imagine my baby locked up in the corner with my dogs snot running down her nose, sitting in her poop diaper while 15 year old is texting her boyfriend to like totally come over and stuff *smacking gum*. No...... uh...uh...not ready for that.

I want background checks. I want to know exactly who I am letting into my home and will be taking care of one of my biggest treasures. So today I did it,  I contacted a very reputable agency and did what I needed to do. I am tentatively scheduling a date for next Friday night. I will NOT chicken out and I will do what I need to do in order for me and hubby to get part of our sanity back we need some alone, adult conversation night....and who knows I might just get lucky  *wink wink*.

I know EXACTLY how you feel.

While I did not hesitate to drop my little love off at his grandparents' homes when we lived near them, NOW is a completely different story. We moved six hours away with no family around. I do not trust easily, so that's that. We haven't been out in our new surroundings without our 2 year old. There are just too many creeps out there! ...and I watch too much Law and Order, I suppose.. either way, I know how you feel!

oh hell to the no on some random sitter -- too many freakazoids in this world.

thankfully i have my mom who is always willing to babysit and ask me how many times brian and i have been out -- just the two of us -- in two years? let's just say i can count on ONE hand and have fingers left over.

we are just boring homebodies -- although we were JUST talking about date night last night and we are going out if i have to dart gun his ass and carry him over my shoulder :)

The first day my sister left her baby's side (she left him in care of her husband) the little guy took his first steps.

I hope you have a great date night!!

Visiting from Voiceboks. I know how you feel because I was in the same position. Regardless, it sounds like you're doing your homework so I'll bet you'll be quite pleased with the babysitter you'll find.

All the best,

Clayton

I am so lucky, I have a built in sitter that is EMT trained, 2nd degree black belt and his brother.
When he finally moves out I am going to be in a pickle.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I was the same way with my now almost 7 year old. Ack! Literally in her entire life until last month my mom and my BFF (who is a professional nanny and I have known since we were 18) had watched my daughter. Good for you for doing it though! I'm sure you and Hubby will appreciate the time alone ;)

Ps I'm a new follower!

Aw, I wish we lived close by. I have two of the world's greatest babysitters. My girls (14 and 15) are so good, the kids get mad when the parents come home. One of the girls she regularly babysits calls her a "cousin." I hope you're able to find someone awesome, it'll be great for all of you.

Have you considered a college student? Especially one majoring in Psychology or Child Development? They'd love the experience and the extra cash is always welcome. I had a neat gig when I was in college--every Friday (I had no life), I hung out with an awesome kid named Jack. His parents provided dinner for us (pizza!) and let me do my laundry there, AND paid me $20. It was a pretty sweet deal. And I adored Jack. It was nice. :)

We totally asked for references and all that jazz when we interviewed our sitter...and I had to get a "good vibe" before deciding on just anyone!

As for leaving her for the first time...The first time I was away from the Chitlin, I drove to the store to get something...and I was already in tears by the end of our block. Lol

I can relate! My husband and I RARELY get date nights. We do get at least three a year, for our birthdays and anniversary. The only babysitter I have is my sister, and she lives 45 minutes from us, works at night, and goes to school full time. I can't bring myself to let a stranger in my house to watch my kids - even with a clear background check. I am super paranoid. Maybe one day I will make friends around here, and have some other people I trust to watch my kids.

I hope you get your date night on Friday! You and your husband deserve it!!

Get a babysitter who texts! So much better. It makes you feel less crazy to send a text (or five). We've used a few sitters who came recommended from friends. After the first glass of wine you'll never look back.

Totally agreeing with being very cautious over who you're letting into your home and who you're leaving your kid with. If you don't have a relative that can babysit for you or a close friend, then I'd say going with an agency is the right thing to do. Oh and have fun on that date night;) I am now following you thanks to Friday Blog Hop, and it would be so nice if you could share the love back on my blog;)
Also today we have the coolest blog hop there is... no rules just fun and would love you to join in with us at Boost My Blog Friday, where you can meet lots of friends and have a great time:) See you there!
Happy Friday!

Thanks for following I am returning the favor!

Lately I have been able to enjoy "date nights" with the boyfriend by going to concerts and his mom watches the baby. It works out for everyone since she lives about an hour away.

Me too !I am paranoid about leaving my son with anyone. Good thing my mom agreed to baby sit him when hubby and I go to work. :)

Best of luck in finding a good sitter for your baby.
