My how the times have.....

changed. You really see how much things change when you have kids. At this time, on this lovely October weekend a few years ago we were on our way to some major festivities, partying with some major alcohol involved. Now...we were not drunks as some of my ex friends stated through the grape vine - b***** .  We were just young, dumb and ready for fun. We did not have any cares in the world and it was a  very free time for hubby and I.

Growing up in the Bay Area the Fleet Week/Columbus Day weekend activities are huge. With these activities and the weather usually being kick ass there was always so much to do and so much fun doing it. The festivities would start on Friday as we would meet for after work cocktails at our local hang out. Saturday mornings we would get up *little hungover* and pack the cooler and work are way to friends roof tops or Crissy Field in order to see the Blue Angels fly through the crystal blue skies of the city.

Sooooooo whattt the f*** happened to this awesomely idealistic weekend...a baby that is what happened. Have you tried to go to an event like this with a toddler..it sucks I mean I love my little bear but damn she comes with so much crap that it becomes a pain to go anywhere in the city on this weekend. Last year we decided to venture in town for the Columbus Day Parade with LDG who was only 9 months at the time.  We were done by the time we got all her crap out of the car...let alone trying to maneuver a hummer of a stroller through the crowded city streets full of drunk ass people yelling  woohooo in your ears every two seconds *yep that was me a few years ago* - Exxceelllent.

I guess I sometimes get a little melancholy about those carefree days....I don't miss the drama but I do miss how things seemed a little easier and less complicated. Then I just look at my little one and realize that I wouldn't change a thing......

Happy Sunday......

You can't have it all, I tell Kids having their first to just be prepared to put your life on hold for a few years. Any couples time is a bonus not to be counted on.

as a mom of teenagers -- trust me, it won't be this way forever!

i clearly cannot hang like the old days -- so my uber partying days may be a thing of the past... lol!

Cyn is right, it does get better. BUT, yea, I look at couples who decided not to have children, and sometimes I envy their free lifestyle. They come and go as they please. Take off for weekend getaways whenever they want. And then I think, but they don't have these precious ones to love, and what is life going to be like when they are old and have no family? Yep, you are right, it's all worth it.

Take it from me cause my eldest is 11, it does get easier. You make so many new friends when they start school so you have bbq's and get togethers and the kiddos do what kiddos do and you partake in a little vino...or you find a friend to babysit when they're older and you return the favour and you start seeing that you do still have a life and you wouldn't ever want to go back to the past because you can no longer imagine life before them. It's just a new chapter is all, you're still you, but with baggage. And you'd probably find alot of us are in the same boat! Just not in the Carribean ;)

My husband and I decided to have kids at least 4 years apart for college. But when our little flower turned 4 I thought what the hell, it was nice to leave the house without a truck load of crap.

I totally know what you mean. I miss those carefree days when I didn't have to worry about lining up a sitter or making sure there were enough diapers in my bag (not that I would trade it, of course). It's hard. And refreshing to hear someone else actually admit it! Thank you!

(ps-following you back from my blog, thanks for stopping by)

Feeling the love......
